We are so excited to kick off our mom of the month again with a mom that has been giving it her all and brings so much fun to class with her one liners and loud singing! We are very blessed to have this wonderful woman in our village and love the smiles she brings to class! Read on to find out more about Lauren and some things you may not know.

We are celebrating our 2 year anniversary here at FIT4MOM Queen Creek and I am beyond blessed to be able to celebrate with my originals that started with me 2 years ago. Lindsey started with us and has been a Body Back member and Stroller Strides member and always puts a smile on my face as soon as she pulls up and her (almost) 4 year old yells, "Good Morning!"

I wanted to be a figure skater. My best friend and I would pretend we could do double axels in our roller blades. We didn't have an ice skating rink in our town though, so I didn't go ice skating for the first time until I was in college. My dreams of being the next Kristi Yamaguchi were not meant to be.

We have an amazing village here at FIT4MOM Queen Creek and we are so EXCITED to start mom of the month so that we can highlight a mom each month.
Our mom of the month for September is Melody Dallenogare. She is an awesome mom, friend, workout partner, listener and helper! She is one that rarely misses a class and is one of our resident comedians. She always has a good laugh for us. She truly cares about everyone and is the first to check up on you if she hasn't seen you for a while in class.

I often get the question, "what are some healthy, quick snacks I can eat throughout the day or when I am in a hurry?" Of course the fact that we are moms is the main reason for this question. It seems like sometimes the easiest snacks to grab are not the healthiest or what we want to be eating.
One of my favorite snacks that I recently started turning to is a banana wrap with almond butter and chia seeds. When I first found this recipe here, it seemed the perfect snack to me as I love peanut butter and bananas. I had recently just switched over to almond butter so that was the only change I made. It was super easy to make and took no more than a minute or 2.

Our nutrition tip this week for our Get Fit Challenge is to drink water, water, water! I know that as a mom we are so preoccupied with being mom that we forget about ourselves and what we should be doing to keep us healthy! This is something I struggle with often as well and so I thought I would pass on the “tools” I have utilized to ensure I hit my minimum of 6-8, 8 oz glasses a day.
Add fruit to your water- This is something that is so yummy and yet super easy. Any fruit that you like to eat will taste great in the water. I sometimes use frozen too depending on what I have on hand. Note: It also makes you feel super important.
Use a straw- I am a big fan of using a straw to help make sure I get in my water for the day. I tend to drink more when I have my water on the counter with a straw in it.
Always carry a water bottle or keep a glass filled on counter- This is the number one thing I have to do, especially on a busy day when I know water will be the last thing on my mind. It helps for me to see the water. Make it...
Squats are great; really, I love squats. They are great for my legs, which is a constant struggle for me and makes my tushy firm and fab (just how it should be). But, even more than squats, I absolutely love, Love, LOVE booty blasters. Like many of my fitness obsessions, this one originated from my friend Liz, who kicked my butt into shape after McKenzie with Body Back boot camp classes.

Have you heard? Fit4Mom Queen Creek & San Tan Valley, is adding Fit4Baby® to our class offerings! What is Fit4Baby you ask? Well, it is a workout program designed to strengthen the body for all the changes it will experience during pregnancy. Classes exclusively focus on pregnant moms. And, as we all know, exercising during pregnancy has countless benefits, including a reduction of many maternal aches and pains, an increase in energy and the potential to speed the labor, delivery and recovery process.
We are so excited to bring this prenatal workout program to Eastmark each Monday and Wednesday evening at 7pm. Classes begin Monday, January 19th and will run in 4 week sessions. We are not only excited about the fitness opportunities these classes will bring (exercises are specifically designed with each stage of pregnancy in mind), but also the friendships it can ignite between moms experience the same life changes together.

With the Holidays approaching it is very easy to feel overwhelmed with the hustle-and-bustle of the season! Sometimes I feel like we spend more time preparing to be with our loved ones rather than actually spending time with them! Below are my top 5 ways to make this holiday season more about time with family without the added stress.
1. Handprint/Footprint Crafts. Think of holiday themed shapes such as trees, snowflakes, and turkeys, and spend just a few minutes making keepsake memories to cherish for a lifetime. These are simple, inexpensive gifts great for grandparents!
2. Frozen Steamer Vegetables. Save time cooking throughout the whole season and during your celebratory meals/parties by purchasing frozen steam-in-bag vegetables! These are healthy alternatives to salted or preserved vegetables and provide a quick and easy side dish for any occasion.

As I read through the items on the list, it was easy to realize many of them were synonymous with being a mentally strong mom. Below is a highlight of my favorite points on their list.

In every mom forum and pregnancy magazine you’ll see articles with easy how-to lists of how to “get your body back” after baby, however there aren’t many articles that help us moms get our self-identity back. I am not going to deny that getting my athletic pre-baby body back hasn’t been something that plagues me when I go through my closet, but one thing that started haunting me more than those all-too-skinny-jeans was this feeling that I was missing some of that “glow” I felt I used to have. Every woman has it! That feeling when you partake in your favorite hobby, that feeling of confidence in a given situation, and that feeling like “you’re in your element!”
